Wroclaw earns Michelin stars — two at once. What does it mean for visitors?

On 27 May 2026, Wrocław became the biggest winner of the Michelin Poland gala. Two stars, three Bib Gourmand awards and a historic moment — the first woman in Poland to receive a Michelin star.

For those who don’t follow culinary rankings: a Michelin star is roughly the equivalent of an Oscar in the restaurant world. Only a handful of restaurants worldwide receive one, and earning it can completely transform a venue — reservations sell out months in advance, and guests travel from across Europe specifically for dinner. Until now, Wrocław watched from the sidelines. Now it’s on the map.

BABA — the first woman in Poland to earn a Michelin star

The first of the awarded restaurants is BABA — the work of Beata Śniechowska, winner of the second edition of MasterChef Poland. But on 27 May 2026, Śniechowska made history not just as a talented chef — she became the first woman in Poland whose restaurant earned a Michelin star. In an industry dominated by men, this is a landmark moment.

“This is a tremendous honour. I’m trying not to have a heart attack. You don’t do things like this to women over 40!”

    — Beata Śniechowska, head chef of restaurant BABA, at the Michelin 2026 gala

Śniechowska’s story is remarkable in its own right. By training she is a doctor of engineering from Wrocław University of Science and Technology — she defended her PhD in thermodynamics, then decided to become a chef. She won MasterChef, opened a restaurant, earned a Bib Gourmand, and now a star. You could say her cooking has something of the laboratory about it — precise, considered, yet warm and emotional at the same time.

BABA’s cuisine is a reinterpretation of Polish classics — but not in a dull, festival-menu way. Śniechowska can take cabbage, mushrooms and buckwheat and create a dish that tastes like coming home but looks like contemporary art. BABA received a Bib Gourmand in the previous edition of the guide (2025) — in 2026 it stepped up to the top league.

Most — a bridge between tradition and fine dining

The second star went to restaurant Most, led by head chef Łukasz Budzik. The name is no coincidence — Most (meaning “bridge”) sits in the heart of the city, close to the Oder, and reflects exactly what Budzik does in the kitchen: bridging classical technique with local produce and contemporary thinking about flavour.

In 2025, Most was listed among the restaurants recommended by Michelin inspectors. A year later — a star. That’s a remarkable pace by the standards of a guide where restaurants sometimes wait years for recognition.

Bib Gourmand — three more addresses on the list

Beyond the stars, Wrocław can boast three restaurants with a Bib Gourmand award — given to places serving exceptional cuisine at accessible prices. The ideal category for those who want to eat brilliantly without booking weeks in advance.

What to do in Wrocław before a Michelin-starred dinner?

Booking an evening table at BABA or Most is one thing. The question is what to do with the rest of the day — and here Wrocław delivers in full.

Start the morning at Ostrów Tumski with its Gothic churches and gas lanterns. Spend midday at the Art Nouveau Market Hall picking up local produce. In the afternoon, visit the Centennial Hall and Japanese Garden. To see everything comfortably and without the stress of parking, an electric car tour is well worth considering — WrocEco Wheels vehicles cover all the major sights with hotel pick-up, in 10 languages.

    Where to book a table?

One word of warning: after the results were announced, reservations at both starred restaurants disappeared fast. Book well ahead — ideally several weeks in advance.

BABA — reservations via the restaurant’s website or by phone. We recommend the tasting menu.

Most — bookings online and by phone. Centrally located and easy to reach.

Ida Kuchnia i Wino, Tarasowa, Pijalni Wino Bistro — Bib Gourmand venues, perfect for a spontaneous evening without advance planning.

    Is this just the beginning?

Everything points that way. Wrocław has a gastronomic scene that has been growing in strength for several years. Michelin has taken notice — the inspectors will certainly be back.

If you’re planning a visit to Wrocław, 2026 is an exceptionally good moment. The combination of historic architecture, a unique atmosphere and now world-class restaurants creates an experience that’s hard to find anywhere else in Poland.

Wrocław has always been a city worth returning to. Now it has one more reason.
